Music :: Rufus Wainwright
This was not just a gig; this was an evening of theatre, drama, and high camp cabaret. His voice wraps you up in a soft comfort blanket of melancholy reverie and the songs ache of passion, angst and warmth
BBC ONLINE
He's absolutely devastating live
POPMATTERS
Wainwright impressed and engrossed his fans as he sashayed between grandiose, richly-textured pop operettas, intimate ballads and playful banter about everything from Hugh Laurie to Internet porn to his laundry
BILLBOARD MAGAZINE
Loved for his wild innovation, charm and prodigious talent, the eccentric and utterly fabulous Rufus Wainwright creates a technicoloured tour-de-force that combines cabaret, jazz, pop and opera with theatrical embellishments.
Wainwright's list of accomplishments is impressive: five successful albums, acting roles and recordings for film, a show-stopping performance in the all-star cast of Came So Far For Beauty, An Evening of Leonard Cohen Songs at the Sydney Opera house, revered performances of Judy Garland's 1961 concert album at Carnegie hall and a commission from the Metropolitan Opera house to write his first opera.
In Western Australia for the first time, Wainwright and his seven-piece band create a heart-stopping, unmissable evening of captivating vocals, sophisticated melodies and heavenly musical orchestration.
