Experience the magic of five master storytellers as they read their work aloud. Indulge your sense of wonder and be carried away to distant places in a selection of readings that traverse the globe.
Journey with novelist and translator Maureen Freely to mysterious and intriguing Istanbul; memoirist Peter Godwin returns to his birthplace, Zimbabwe, a country in the state of collapse; Malaysian novelist Tan Twan Eng weaves a haunting tale of betrayal in Penang; American novelist Nathan Englander highlights the chaos and absurdity of Buenos Aires on the cusp of a military coup; and acclaimed Australian writer Alex Miller delivers a moving and profound meditation on the land, beauty and truth.

The Octagon Theatre is an intimate thrust stage venue seating 658 to 758 patrons.
The theatre was designed with advice from Sir Tyrone Guthrie, the founding director of Stratford Shakespeare Festival, Canada, and was based on the design of the Stratford Festival Theatre. The Octagon can be used for music, dance, drama, comedy and public lectures.
Transport
Located at the University of WA Campus on Stirling Highway, and is serviced by buses on both Stirling Highway and Mounts Bay Road. There is a set down / pick up point behind the theatre suitable for cars, taxis, maxi taxis & small buses. Enter off Hackett Drive adjacent to University House.
