Education
Welcome to the 2008 Perth International Arts Festival Education Site
The value and impact that arts experiences can have on young peoples’ education is becoming an increasingly well-researched and documented topic throughout the world. Principals and school administrators are realising that the educational, social and personal benefits of arts involvement on young people can’t be ignored. Studies have shown that arts involvement develops students’ higher order thinking skills, improves literacy and numeracy development, and encourages critical thinking, self-discipline, confidence, self-expression, creativity, team-work and understanding of other cultures (Fiske, 1999).
At the Perth Festival we are pleased to be offering a range of high quality local and international acts to schools as part of our comprehensive education programme. By taking part in these school events, you will also have access to an array of educational support materials to assist you in planning for the event and integrating it into your teaching and learning programmes.
Here you’ll find:
- Information about all our schools events
- Web links to information of the benefits of arts education and general arts education advocacy
- Excursion management planning documentation
- Guidelines for audience etiquette
- Teacher feedback survey to complete after your Festival experience
