Visual Arts :: James Angus
The Art Gallery of Western Australia
- EXHIBITION ORGANISED AND TOURED BY THE MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART, SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA. MAJOR SPONSOR: WESTRAC. THIS EXHIBITION IS SUPPORTED BY THE CONTEMPORARY TOURING INITIATIVE THROUGH VISIONS OF AUSTRALIA, AN AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT PROGRAM AND VISUAL ARTS AND CRAFTS STRATEGY, AN INITIATIVE OF THE AUSTRALIAN, STATE AND TERRITORY GOVERNMENTS
Ordinary objects such as a teapot, soccer or basketball are turned inside out, dropped from a great height or expanded to massive scale in this exhibition of finely crafted, physically distorted everyday objects and iconic architectural models.
James Angus, a West Australian born artist with a substantial national and international profile, explores the traditional properties of sculpture - scale, volume, material and form - using computer design to create new forms.
Exhibition talk with Rachel Kent, Senior Curator MCA at the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Sun 17 Feb, 2pm
