Walk the streets of an imagined Perth and wonder at the fantastic structures proposed for vacant lots in the city centre.

Imagine a city skyline shaped not by economics or physics but by the imaginations of emerging Western Australian architects and artists. Imagine the buildings we could inhabit if joy or beauty were our only considerations.

Architects, architectural practices and artists have been invited to design fantasy buildings for five empty lots in Perth's CBD. The designs will be rendered and displayed as billboards on each site.

Unusual, provocative or simply beautiful, the fanciful structures challenge our views of how we conceive of spaces in our city.

Architects Gresley Abas, Iredale Pedersen Hook, Jonathan Lake Architects and Simon Pendal Architect are distinctive emerging voices in the world of architecture contributing to a unique Western Australian design aesthetic.

Artist Callum Morton, who represented Australia at the Venice Biennale 2007, straddles the gap between art and architecture playing with architectural forms and motifs in a dramatic and humorous way.
